Hat Trickers, Sqid, Gotsu Totsu Kotsu and a night out.

So after the great punk gigs a couple of weeks ago, more followed! This week, me and Alex went to see Hat Trickers (we missed them last time at Antiknock) in Sangenchaya. First up though, was some pre-gaming in Shibuya with Yuta and her friend Amy. Alex didn't make it to the pub, but at least he made it in time to se the Hat Trickers. Pre-gaming consisted of beer, jack n' coke, long island iced tea and some funny chatting about whatever that came into our minds. We got to continue the talking and fuckin' around later at Current that night, which was pretty awesome. Yuta has proven herself to be an awesome drinking partner these last few weeks, which is something that I always appreciate! Anyways, over to the live review. We didn't really see more than two bands that Friday night (Hat Trickers and some low-life punk band with a kinda popish feeling to it. Boring). Hat Trickers never disappoint though, and this time was as good as always. They've stopped using the violin though, so now its 3 guitars on stage instead. Kinda overkill but whatever.

On the following Monday I went to Antiknock with Ian and Jari, this time to see some good Japanese metal. Sqid had the honor of starting the whole charade, and Gotsu Totsu Gotsu topped it all with their awesome Samurai Metal from Kawagoe, Saitama (oh yeah!). Pics below!

Alex and the vocalist dude.

Antiknock is kinda empty on Mondays.

But Sqid drew the audience to the front of the stage with their awesome rock/metal.

Crispy Nuts, ザ☆ぺラーズ, ゲンドウミサイル, Extinct Government and more!

This Sunday, Yuta invited me to this punk gig at Antiknock, where her brother's band (ザ☆ぺラーズ) would be playing together with other bands, such as Crispy Nuts, ゲンドウミサイル and Extinct Government (and like 5 or 6 more, but I didn't see them all).

Turns out they all kicked serious ass, and Tokyo might as well be the punk metropolis of Asia, if not the world.

Pics below, enjoy!

Awesome punkfans.

Nervous stage-diver. She ended up on the floor.

Lovely shirt on a lovely guy.

From hell, Coffins and Terror Squad@Earthdom

Guess I went to Earthdom a lot this week. This time around, on a Monday nonetheless, saw 3 great bands playing really heavy shit. From Hell, a top-notch doom band (you might enjoy it if you like Triptykon, Ewoken or whatever) played their usual set, and as always I enjoyed seeing a doom band doing the horns-in-the-air stuff. After seeing From Hell, I decided to check out the bar/lounge and to buy some band related stuff, this time a Coffins t-shirt. I bet its hard to find in Norway! Next band up was Coffins and it was totally fuckin' awesome, as one would expect. Uchino and Koreeda are the coolest old-skool dudes in town, and their show never fails. Oh, and did they play a new song? I think so. I headbanged a lot during appropriate riffs and enjoyed seeing a death metal band who doesn't compete with other bands regarding BPM but focuses on making awesome riffs instead. Last band I saw that night was Terror Squad, and while not being my kinda thrash/whatever metal, I had fun. Gotta love a vocalist who enjoys spending time in the mosh-pit during solos.

Gibbed, Melt-Banana, the beach and Current!

This weekend was awesome. Went to a great gig at Earthdom featuring Pigmen, Gibbed and Melt-Banana, enjoyed the sun Izumi Tamagawa beach the next day and topped the party by going to Current later that night. Met Mike the geek, Sam, Jason, Mayu, Ayano and Yuta (she is awesome btw!). Gotta say though, apart from chatting with Yuta and Ayano, Sushi rocked the most. Upon being asked by a foreign dude if he spoke English, he replied with "whats up dog". That shit was epic!

Anyways, enjoy the pictures below. The ones of Melt-Banana are pretty shitty, due to my old cell phone.

The awesome Yuta!

Old stuff, kinda

Thought I should start off this thing with some pictures of past lives I've been too. A brief selection of photos from gigs with Gallhammer, Banjax, Little Bastards and Jelly Jelly Fish are viewable below. Enjoy! All photos were shot in 2008 at eMseven and Shinjuku Marble.
